These have been awesome while shooting in the frigid cold in Greenland and Iceland! Thanks! =)
This is my second pair of gloves from Vallerret, the first pair being the IPSoot model. I found them to be a little too warm for anything but the coldest of days or for hours of sitting in a hide. I find the Markhof glove a little thinner an more suited to the autumn and winter weather here in England.
As always, the ordering process was quick and easy and the delivery speedy (Less than 3 days from order).
I'm now looking forward to getting out and giving them a real field test over the next couple of months.
Markhof Pro 2.0 Photography Glove
I had been eyeing up a pair of Vallarette gloves for a while, and a round a month ago i decided to finally buy a pair. Once they had arrived i was immediately impressed with the quality of the construction and the materials. I then tried them on they they fitted amazingly well, however once i flipped the fingers back it was immediately obvious that the insulation was showing. This not only made them look un-neat, but also ruined the idea that they were amazingly well finished. I emailed the customer service and they sent another pair out. I had to ship my pair back at my own expense which i wasn't massively impressed with.
The new pair arrived and the insulation showing was better but not gone altogether. I feel this looks like a bit of a short cut which on such an expensive pair of gloves, to me doesn't seem overly acceptable.
I then decided to test them out in the field, and instantly i could tell that they were very warm and wind proof. The fit still felt good and i could fully use even the smallest of controls on my camera. So far so good, but i them started to notice the second problem with these gloves, the magnets. Ive found that the magnets are a little too weak to really hold the finger and thumb tips out of the way effectively. This is a minor point but when using the gloves in the field i am constantly noticing it, and it does start to annoy me eventually.
Overall after a few months of use i am a bit divided by these gloves. On one hand they are amazingly warm, a good fit and the fit and finish (apart from the finger slits) is truly amazing. However with the magnets not being strong enough, and the insulation showing do sort of dull the product slightly. I think this is the basis of a great product and with a little bit more work i ant wait to see what Vallerret come out with next.
Perfect photography gloves !!
Very happy of my purchase.
